Silver screen’s old Hollywood Actresses Edna Purviance was born on October 21, 1895 in Paradise Valley, Nevada. Her parents Louisa Wright Davey and Madison Gates Purviance. She appeared in 33 of Chaplin’s productions, including the The Kid (1921). She was famous with her first leading role on A Woman of Paris.
Do you know that, she received a monthly salary from Chaplin’s film company for the rest of her life. “How could I forget Edna, She was with me when it all began.” Chaplin said after her death.
Purviance married John Squire in 1938 and remained marriage until John’s death in 1945. At age 62, on January 13, 1958, Purviance died due to throat cancer at the Motion Picture Country Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA.
