Photographs released on August 5 show that about 70,000 rubber ducks put into the river by the Duck Derby Chicago fund raise program for Special Olympics Illinois.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Chicago Red Stars footballer Morgan Gautrat was the star ambassador, raising about $ 310,340 for the Illinois Special Olympics.

In here, participants can “adopt” a duck competitor for $ 5 and then they move on through the river up to finishing line. The ducky competitor that came in first won the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer for his sponsor; Other prizes included a trip to Mexico and $ 2,000.

Most of people are saying that this fund raising program caused to environmental pollution and if the pollution is high, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will impose restriction on this matter. Any way the organizers of the program confirmed that, after the event all the area were cleaned and rubber duckies were collected from the finishing point.
