Did you know that Google used the name ‘BackRub’ before registering its name ‘Google’? In this article, we will talk about some of the things you may not know about Google (1998), which is even younger than Netflix (1997), a world – renowned manufacturing company.

Found on September 4, 1998, Google was co-founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The meeting between the two was a coincidence. Arriving at Stanford University as a freshman, Larry Page is tasked with showing the university environment to Sergey Brin, who was already studying at the university. Coincidentally, they are launching the first version of Google ‘BackRub’ as their research project.

It’s no secret that companies like Apple, HP, Amazon as well as Google started in a garage. However, the garage is being rented by Larry Page and Sergey Brin from a friend, Susan Wojcicki. Susan Wojcicki is currently the CEO of YouTube.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998 and are trying to sell it to Yahoo for $ 1 million. But Yahoo rejects the deal. Realizing this foolish move, Yahoo again seeks to buy Google in 2002 for $ 3 billion. At the time, Google was asking for $ 5 billion. Yahoo has once again rejected the deal. (Yahoo was reluctant to sell to Microsoft for $ 44.6 billion in 2008. Verizon then bought Yahoo for $ 4.6 billion in 2016.)

Founded in the midst of rejection, Google currently earns approximately $ 200,000 per minute. (Apple earns approximately $ 300,000 per minute.)

On August 16, 2013, the Google Web site crashed for five minutes. At that time global internet traffic was reduced by 40%.

On April 1, 2004, Gmail launched Google’s email service, which now serves millions of users. Since this was introduced on April 1st or Fool’s Day, everyone thought this was a joke made by Google.

Then, one of the most trusted business calculations on the Page was the rise of mobile computing. He spearheaded a small startup called Android in the summer of 2005 to $ 50 million. He did so without telling Schmidt, who was then CEO. This is because Page strongly believed that it could help Android co-founder Andy Rubin enter the mobile software market.

In fact, Android will became the most popular mobile operating system in the world. The project underwent a last-minute course revision after Rubin witnessed the launch of the iPhone in 2007 by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. While in a cab in Las Vegas, he watched a public presentation on a laptop computer. But with the announcement of the T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream in 2008, the first Android phone went wild, laying the foundation for the world’s first open source operating system.

After Page and Brin hired a number of developers from Mozilla Firefox, Google began efforts to build a better web browser at the suggestion of superstar product manager Sunder Pichai in September 2008. This happened despite the insistence of then-CEO Schmidt to stay away from what Google later classified as the “crushed browser wars”. The final product was chrome. The ultimate market dominance of the browser was one of Pichai’s most impressive business successes, which helped push the production chief to the role of CEO years later.

Googleplex is the headquarters of Google and its parent company, Alphabet. It is located in Mountain View, California, USA. In 2016, Google will provide free Wi-Fi to the entire city of Mountain View, where their headquarters are located.

Many IT students today dream of getting a job at Google. They call new employees to Google “Nooglers”, which means “New Googlers”. If a Google employee dies, his dependents (spouse and children) will receive half of the deceased’s salary from Google for up to 10 years.

Google constantly encourages its employees to engage in their side projects, and many Google services, such as AdSense, Google News, and Gmail, are the result of this motivation.

Starting from a garage, the Google name, which is currently the third most valuable brand in the world (at the time of writing), has become an indispensable name for you and me in everyday life.
